This is the place where you can personalize your profile!
But, how?
By moving, adding and personalizing widgets.
You can drag and drop to rearrange.
You can edit widgets to customize them.
The left side has widgets you can add!
Some widgets you can only access when you get a premium membership.
Some widgets have options that are only available when you get a premium membership.
We've split the page into zones!
Certain widgets can only be added to certain zones.
"Why," you ask? Because we want profile pages to have freedom of customization, but also to have some consistency. This way, when anyone visits a deviant, they know they can always find the art in the top left, and personal info in the top right.
Don't forget, restraints can bring out the creativity in you!
Now go forth and astound us all with your devious profiles!
I took the liberty to add a whole bunch of photos to my gallery. Hope you all enjoy. I enjoyed taking them that's for sure. It's the first series with my Nikon D80 SLR. Never had a camera like this before, still need to learn a lot .
You did amazing rendering with your maxwell. I hope you can answer me some question. I saw some of your interior shots have white noise in it but some of them are not. I have a same problem the whole rendering is full of white noise. Would you be able to tell me how can you fix this problem?
if you're rendering with maxwell noise is very common, that's the problem with unbiased renderers. The renders with lots of noise have only rendered a few hours (didn't have the time > deadline ), the ones without or almost without have rendered a fairly long time. The more reflective materials, complex materials (SSS displacement,..) , complex geometry, amount of geometry,.. the longer it will take for the render to be noiseless.
Some pointers:
-never use a white material, pure white doesn't really exist RGB of 240,240,240 will give a little faster results -hide all geometry that's not visible or behind the camera -a little cheat, some people tend to use is to hide the wall behind the camera and draw a plane (not the size of the wall ofcourse) with an emissive material attached to fake the flash of a camera. this way there's more light and your render will be noiseless faster (never used this one though).
I wrote a tutorial a while back (outdated by now) [link] maybe you can learn something from it. I doubt it, and it's in combination with Sketchup. I don't know what program you use.
Hi Ash, Thanks for your tips. I hope I am not wasting your time or causing any problem. I will try to do it the way you told me. The link that you gave me was the one that I found you at the first place. It was so useful. I am using sketch up 7 and maxwell 1.7.. It solved a lot of problem that I had no idea how to solve.. Thanks again. Would I ask you three more question?
1: Would you show me or any tutorial that you have done to do the skies background. I tried to attach the sky.HDR in "enable background" from Maxwell HDRI in sketch up. However, It still showed up as black. Would you show me how to use " enable background", Enable illumination", Enable reflection and enable refraction. ?
2: I downloaded the material from maxwell material website and followed your instruction from your link by putting the .mxm in the mxm folder and image in the texture folder. I also went into the texture box " orange and black " icon to delete the extra "/" but somehow when I rendered it . It shows below: ----------------------------------------------------------------------- - render core : RS1 - render version : Maxwell Render® 1.7.1 - desired rendering time : 50m00s - desired sampling level : 20.000 - render resolution : 640 x 480 - using 0 threads - illumination layers: . . direct layer: true . . indirect layer: true . . direct caustic reflection layer: true . . direct caustic refraction layer: true . . indirect caustic reflection layer: true . . indirect caustic refraction layer: true
[24/August/2009 22:16:53] Checking Data [24/August/2009 22:16:53] Loading Bitmaps & Preprocessing Data
ERROR: - Render Failed --------------------------------------------------------------------- HERE is the step I did after I put the image and .mxm in the Maxwell Folder. I assigned the material and edit it. It showed the window:
T:/ Metal / verja tela metalica OP.jpg not found do you want to find a replacement. "Not at all" "No" "Yes"
then I pressed yes and opened the file for me to find the replacememnt but I don't know what should I look for.
If I pressed Not at all, it will open the Mxed window. And I found out there is no file in "Bump" and " Reflectance". I clicked the black and gray square to open the other window and type the file address there and after that the black and gray square would change to black and orange square. After all this, I clicked save and close the file.
Then I tried to render it but it showed the msg above from the "Console"
I hope you understand what I am saying and you know how to solve it. I basically can't use any material from the website.
The last question... Would you tell me from your experience what number is good for the sampling level and the time for the best rendering ...
1. If your sky is black, you should disable the "alpha channel" when you're exporting your mxs. ([link] #6-6) You can see the options you need there too.
2. If the square is black and grey then there isn't a picture to start with so there doesn't need to be one. Maybe there are others layers [link] On the left you can see Vinile > BSDF, well maybe with your material there are other layers, check all the layers for an orange-black square and check the path. You say you don't know what too look for, just sarch your computer (F3 in windows explorer if not on a mac) and look for the JPG. Paste it in the path.
3. The sampling level is the level of noise, 12 is a good level if you don't have a lot of reflective materials, white or don't render night-time shots with light. 20 is almost perfect and 25 is near perfection.
I hope you understand, it's been a while since I used Maxwell, it could be some things changed and the workflow is different by now.
Hi Ash, thanks for your tips again. The materials from the MXM Gallery still not working...I made the program render however, the result is very flat. I downloaded the stone wall and it is very flat on the rendering..I tried to make the bump map higher contrast so that the shadow line is darker. BUT none of these steps works...
It still said image not found when I click edit for the Mxed and the file name is not in the folder that I downloaded. sigh....
How did you learn Maxwell.. Is it something wrong with my program...? Is there any good book or tutorial that I can have.. I am using sketchup 7 on mac.
I am sorry to bother you...I just can't find anyone to help..
Heyhey, zotte dinges hierzo!
your renders are absolutely breathtaking! I'm an architecture student myself and you sketchup + maxwell renders truely amaze me. Would you mind linking me to a few good tutorials on sketchup -> vray or maxwell? im in the process of learning the basics. Thanks
I wrote a tutorial myself on how to render sketchup to maxwell if you would like to read it, it's on my forum: [link]
the 3 tutorials are in english but my forum is in dutch you CAN set the language to english it's explained in there too, but still all other articles are in dutch though
